We have found that dog owners have greater success in finding pit friendly housing when dealing with individual owners in comparison to rentals owned by corporations. Here are some tips for securing a place to live with your beloved pit bull:

If the landlord has a breed restriction in place, offer to let them meet your dog. A one on one meeting can be more powerful than the hysteria the media leads the general public to believe.

Train your dog. A well manner dog is more likely to win over a skeptical landlord. It also shows your level of committment and responsibilty to the dog

Keep records. Show potential landlords that you are responsible and caring by providing them with training certificates and records from your veternarian.

Do your homework. Being a well educated dog owner, armed with facts and the ability to inform others on the true nature of their dog & it’s behavior will make convincing skeptics that much easier.
